What does this mean?

The appraised work appears to be an oil on canvas or panel painting executed by French artist Victor Gabriel Gilbert (1847-1933). The painting depicts a young female figure dressed in all black, standing alone with a basket of flowers, a bridge and architecture visible in the background. The artist studied and apprenticed with Eugène Adam, a painter decorator. At night he would also take lessons at the École de la Ville de Paris, which was his only form of official artistic training. He was primarily known for his Parisian street scenes, often portraying vignettes of everyday urban life. The estimate provided is based on comparables recently offered and sold at auction. The appraised work's approximated size (based on images), composition, medium and condition (also based on images provided), as well as the artist's current auction market were taken into consideration when determining the estimate. In many cases, pricing for similar examples available on the primary (retail) market vary, and are often higher than secondary (auction) market examples.
