What does this mean?

Hi Jonathan,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The hole in this vase was probably made so it could be turned into a lamp but by making the hole, the vase has lost a considerable value and is now purely decorative.
If you'd like this appraisal to include dimensions, please forward the height and diameter at your convenience and I'll update ASAP.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

A Japanese export parcel gilt aesthetic movement style porcelain vase
Made in Japan, 20th Century
Of tapering vasiform profile with rolled lip with black or navy ground overall, the shoulder and base decorated with a profuse floral banding, the body decorated with a bird on a foliated branch. Stamped below MADE IN --PAN.
