Description from user:

Looks to be still life of artists master piece, which is sculpture of young child, draped in fabric. Looks to be quite old, including frame which is held together by nails. Back of painting has piece of cardboard that has also been nailed together. Back has not been removed since painting has been in my possession.

Found in the attic of our previous home in Monroe, La. It was in an old box, which was taped up and placed in a corner. Our home was an old tutor that was built in the 1920s I was told the home was constructed by the Maseur family, who constructed the Maseur museum in Monroe Louisiana. I have toted that thing around for nearly 15 years now and finally decided I would like to know more about it. It’s a very interesting piece.

The painting depicts a still life with a plaster sculpture, painting accessories, a shell goblet, a vase, and books. This painting appears to be not signed. Such motifs were common in Europe in the late 19th century, especially in German-speaking countries and France.
