What does this mean?

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

It is a lovely and very charming teddybear. Such vintage and antique soft toys are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
Based on the photos of your teddy bear I would say that the fur is made of mohair, the stuffing is sawdust and because of the shape, the hump on the back and length of limbs of the bear I would say that it is a Germany teddy bear from the first part of the 1900s. Possibly from the 1910s-1920s. During this particular era teddybears looked very much like real bears. It could be a be a Silberstein teddy bear but without tags or labels it is difficult to determine. The condition of the teddy appears to much-loved that is that it does show signs of use after cuddling and being carried around. In other words it has had a good life. This is the type of toy that may surprise pricewise in a positive direction if it came up for auction due to its rarity and lack of tags/labe where somebody may know the specific maker. However because of the condition the estimate is in the lower area.

The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online toys auction, where I believe the teddybear has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the lovely teddybear. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
