What does this mean?

Dear Andrew,

Thank you for this second look and your patience.

The presented object appears to be an Indian sword with a shamshir-style blade and with a western-style basket hilt how it is common for swords or sabers of cavalry troops. The blade appears to be made out of steel and the basket could be steel or iron. The curvature of the blade is typical for shamshirs from the Persian region. The blade has an etched decor and the remark "Made in India" and was probably made in the 20th century. The sword comes with a leather scabbard.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 100 to 250 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
Georg
