What does this mean?

Dear Patricia,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

The presented object appears to be a Japanese porcelain teapot decorated with a gold brocade decor which is typical for the region of Satsuma. The images on the side show a court scene with a calligraphy school. This piece belonged to a tea set with cups and saucers, a sugar bowl, and creamer. Such pieces were exported to the Western world from Satsuma since the end of the 19th century.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 60 to 120 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
Georg
