Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Turkish Konya Rug. The piece dates back to the period from 1960 to 1980. The piece was classically decorated as a Konya Seccade, which is a prayer rug native to the Central Anatolian city of Konya. The dark blue central area of the piece is called a "Mihrap" which is the altar of a mosque. This "Mihrap" motif is a very characteristic pattern on Turkish prayer rugs. Instead of a usual lantern, on this piece we can see a floral motif on the Mihrap as the light source. The surroundingd of the pattern is entirely floral with flowers and fruits. The borders were knotted on white and red bases as well a a inner lower edge decorated on a dark saffron colour. The piece was knotted wool on wool. The quality of the item is quite high and the traditional style was reflected incredibly well on the piece. The knot density of the piece is average to high for this piece and therefore the motifs were rendered in good quality and clearly with high precision. The piece appears to be in good condition without any visible significant problem.
