Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian Tabriz Picturesque Rug with panels. The piece likely dates back to the period from 1970 to 1975. The piece was stylized as an architectural experssion of the Persian Empire and the Persian Heritage. The piece was centrally decorated with a central medallion and this central medallion was a depiction of the Tomb of Cyrus The Great. This architectural figures were moslty adopted by the Shah Regime therefore it is likely that this piece was produced before the revolution. On the surrounding of the central decorative area there are four panels onc eagain expressing the srchitectural heritage of Persian such as Taq Kasra on the lower right and Soltaniyeh Dome on the lower left. The buildings are rendered incredibly realistic and detailed due to the high number of knots as well as the precision and quality of the craftsmanship. The panels were divided by rams headed classical Persian Empire style columns. Rest of the decoration is entirely floral including the borders. A highly collectable piece with a unique outline and execution. The piece was knotted Wool on Silk. The piece in in good condition without any visible problems.
