Description from user:

Dear to whom it may concern, I hope you are doing well, I would like to first formally introduce myself, My name is Khaled AlMulla I am a close family friend of the owner of this painting. This painting was bought by the Prince (Abdullah Bin Al-Senussi) of Libya in 1965 in a Italian school of arts named "Venetian school". The Family became the rightful owners of the painting by Francesco Gaurdi. The family asked me to help them find out how much it's valued. The painting is in pristine condition and is securely safe, with legal documents of ownership. It is an oil painting on brass canvas. The painting appears to be the "Church of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice, Italy. I also would like to attach a link of what I found upon researching, I noticed the artist painted in the same area and the same style. https://www.meisterdrucke.ae/artist/Francesco-Guardi.html I would love your help on the Valuation and Authentication, I think this painting would perfectly suit on selling it through Christies. Please contact me for further information. +965 99022221 Kind regards, Khaled AlMulla

Between 2004-2005 the family valued the painting in Dubai. They told me it could be Either be from three places, I have attached a picture of those locations in this email as well.

What does this mean?

Dear Khaled,

Thank you for your patience and help. My sincere apologies for the delay with the apprisal.

The presented object appears to be a painting made in oil paint on copper with the measurements of 40 x 30 cm. The painting depicts a typical "Capriccio" scene from Venice like it was invented and implemented by the famous Italian artist Francesco GUARDI (1712-1793). This painting depicts the "Church of San Giorgio Maggiore" with numerous boats and gondolas in the foreground. This painting is signed with white letters with the name "Van Grass". The depiction of the persons on the boats, the depiction of the architecture, and the style, in general, are not comparable with the much higher quality of paintings done by Francesco Guardi. This painting was probably made in the late 19th or early 20th century by an artist with the name or nom de plume "Van Grass".
Works by this artist were recently not offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in medium condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 300 to 600 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
George
