Clay Nude Sculpture. It is very heavy. The weight I would say is around 40 pounds. It measures 20" in height. The base is 8" x 8". I believe it is made of clay, due to the color. It may be a different material like plaster. It does not have a ping to it. It looks to signed L. Pierce 94
Hi Dave,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
I also think this looks like "Pierce" (or some derivative of that) and have tried a number of different spelling combinations but haven't been able to come up with a close-enough match upon which to base an attribution so my value of $300-500 is based on the recent auction sales of comparably dated and sized female torso casts
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
American or European School, probably late 20th Century
Female torso cast
earthenware or plaster
signed and dated indistinctly to the lower part of one thigh
20 inches high, on a square stepped plinth base 8 by 8 inches
CONDITION: appears to be in good condition
PROVENANCE: n/a
$300-500*
