This is a very heavy lamp, thanks to the interesting bust of the young girl. She is wearing a necklace and she appears to be made of old ivory or maybe it is composition. The lamp shade is original to the piece. The carved bust measures 12 inches. The lamp measures 33 inches from the base to the top of the finial. The shade is 11 inches wide. The signature on the back looks positively like the initial "A." And the last name begins with "S" and continues to Santini? Scortecci? I am not sure.
I purchased the lamp from an antique store.
Dear Rhonda,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a lamp combined with an older bust with the measurements of 33 inches height. The lamp was combined in the 20th century with an older bus by the Italian artist Santi. This bust was probably made out of plaster or gypsum and was made after an alabaster or bronze bust depicting a smiling boy. This bust was made in the early 20th century.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 100 to 200 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
