What does this mean?

Hi Maureen,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The values Killen may have been able to see his sculptures for - or through a gallery - are significantly higher than the fair-market values (based on auction records) that Mearto relies upon for valuations. In recent years, comparable works by Killen have sold at auction for prices ranging from $400-6,600. If you are interested in selling this, I would strongly recommend an auction house that features sales of sporting art.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

Bruce Killen (Oregon, 20th century)
"Molone Springs Sprig" (two pintail ducks in flight)
cold-painted bronze
from an edition of 50
45 1/2 inches high, 30 inches long, 25 1/2 inches wide
CONDITION: appears to be in good condition
PROVENANCE: acquired from the artist
$ 2,500-3,500*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
