Description from user:

This chess set is from the House of Staunton . The chessmen are 'club-size' and were part of the St. Petersburg 1895 series. The kings are slightly more than 4 inches. The chessmen are boxwood and blood rosewood and the kings have the 'house of staunton' stamp on the bottom. The certificate of authenticity on the box shows 'Entered No: C010'. The box the chessmen reside in has a label on the bottom that indicates the box is made of red sandalwood. The number on the box is NHSPST44RS and is dated 01/05/06. The board is 25 inches square and the individual squares are 2.5 x 2.5 inches. There are no other markings on the board other than the House of Staunton stamp. The wood appears to be bamboo and perhaps mahogany. The board appears to have been dropped at some point as there is a chipped corner and a hairline fracture. Our dog club received this box from a member with the intention we would be able to use it as a fundraiser. It appears the set was acquired in 2006 for 'quite a sum of money' but no other documentation available.

Our dog club acquired this set through the generosity of a member with the intent we would sell it as part of a fundraiser. No sales receipts other than the donor's statement that he paid 'quite a sum of money' for the set is available. We believe the set was purchased sometime in 2006. We estimate that set could have been purchased for $1,000 USD or more. We contacted the House of Staunton and they were unable to confirm the purchase and said they had no information on the 4" version of the chessmen in the St. Petersburg series. Or maybe their customer service representatives aren't allowed to say.
