Description from user:

This painting measures 25 inches wide and 19 inches high. It is in a simple wood frame. It is interesting in that it must be painted with five or six shades of blue and white only. It is beautiful in a shabby way. The surface white paint is dingy, but it could benefit from a bit of conservancy if it is worth it. The signature is difficult. But it definitely begins with a "Di" and there is a double "L" as well if that helps and what appears to be two dots over two "i's" as I am sure you can see.

Unknown. It was sold at an estate auction that I frequent where no representations are made about origins.

What does this mean?

Dear Rhonda,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

The presented object appears to be a painting made in oil or acrylic paint on board with the measurements of 19 x 25 inches. The painting depicts a maritime scene with junks and sailboats, painted in a somewhat haphazard style. It is signed with a not clear readable signature which is assumed to be an alias because such paintings are typical of artworks made as decorative art in Asia in the last third of the 20th century.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided. A fair market estimation would be between 50 to 100 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
Georg
