Handmade Qatari prayer rug

Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Afghan Rug. The piece dates back to the period between 1980-2000. The piece has a classical Elephant Foot pattern with two feet at the center used as central medallion. The piece's pattern is characterized by use of Ram Horns, Floral motifs and Hook Motifs. The piece has very large and wide border which is usually seen as a sign of elegancy. The piece is decorated with tones of dark red, pale white and dark blue. This is the traditional colour palette of Afghan Rugs. The piece is knotted wool on wool and based on the colour of the foundation the wool was obtained from gray to black coloured sheeps. The piece is in good condition without any significant fault.

Entirely hand knotted.
