What does this mean?

Hello Kathleen,

Thank you very much for submitting your item for an appraisal and for your patience.

The presented object appears to be an oil on board painting depicting a windmill in the Netherlands or Flanders. The piece measures 15.5 x 10.5 inches and looks to be in good overall condition. It is signed at the bottom left, but the name is not legible and, given the relative quality of the painting, is not likely to be any known artist. Therefore, an attribution would likely be "Dutch School, XX century."

The prices achieved at auction for such works is, unfortunately, not particularly high:

https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/161698037_framed-old-windmill-painting

Based on these comparables and the overall market for this kind of painting, I would estimate the current fair market value at $100 to 200, though retail and asking prices may vary.

If you have any questions about my appraisal, please let me know in the comments section below. Thank you again and have a wonderful day!

Kind regards,
Anne
