What does this mean?

Hi Carol,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The facial features of this figure look quite feminine to me but the attire is clearly masculine; I wonder if this isn't some literary character.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

A vintage Majolica glazed and parcel gilt standing figure
French or Italian, 20th Century
The figure with long curly hair, holding a hat with trailing plume, dressed in breeches and a loose-fitting lawn shirt with bodice, gauntlets and breeches, standing on a naturalistically rendered base. Underside of base impressed "2670" but otherwise marked indistinctly.
6 inches high
CONDITION: This figure appears to be in good condition; value assumes no chips, breaks, repairs or losses.
PROVENANCE: inherited
$ 50-75*
