This appears to be an etching..? Or, maybe a wood block print, I’m not sure, I don’t have enough expertise with the medium, the technique, or the period to be able to tell. The printing is 7” inches x 5” inches with 4 rounder corners and a 1” 1/4 inch white border that frames the print. At first glance, the print appears to be in a black ink, but on closer examination, red and burnished colors are revealed in distinct places in the print. Most often it appears subtlety in the figures riding the boats across the harbor and then in pronounced color on the side of the building that faces the harbor and the setting sun. Whether this is a deliberate choice made by the artist or a result of the ink fading over time is hard for me to tell. I’m hoping you can shed some light on this when you take a look at the photographs I’ve sent. Written on the back (the term “on the back” is that “en verso”...?) of the frame, in handwriting, is what appears to be the title of the print: “Le Musée. Revochella à Trieste”.and following in quotation marks, ”les fugitives.” If you need more detailed pictures, let me know and I will upload them accordingly. Best, Mark

Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. The item presented appears to be a watercolor, rather than a print. The work appears to be by Italian artist Marco Comirato (1800 - 1869). There is not much known about Comirato. However, he is known for his smaller watercolors shown within a drawing border, such as the item presented. The script to the verso may indicate the subject matter of the Revoltella Museum in Trieste, Italy.
