My mom is from Quito, Ecuador and since the late 1800's we've had a baby Jesus ceramic statue. We believed that it was done by a local Indian and is a Copis Cara (sp?) While it is still beautiful, it was damaged in an earthquake and the arms and one foot are broken. That's how we learned that it is actually wood covered with ceramic. The paint job is stunning, but the eyes are a bit spooky, as they appear to be a type of glass as they reflect light. Thank you in advance for your professional advice.
