Sango China was founded in 1949 in New York, to compete with other companies like Noritake, which satisfied a growing middle-class demand for elegant and affordable dinnerware. The company's timeless aesthetics and modern sensibilities made it popular but it could not truly compete with Noritake and faded out of fashion. Whereas Noritake porcelain services are usually valued at $4-8 PER PIECE, Sango china does not bring even that much at auction, typically only around $3-6 PER PIECE

In the Stella pattern (#3822), made in Japan, mid 20th Century, comprising:
