What does this mean?

Hi Karen,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Cabbage Patch dolls were highly collected in the 1980s but there were a LOT Of them on the market and now there are not enough collectors/buyers to keep the value up; most sell for less than $50 at auction these days, which are the values Mearto appraises at.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

A vintage Cabbage Patch "Holly Ruth" cloth doll
circa 1980s
with original "birth certificate" signed (or facsimile signature) by Xavier Roberts
16 inches tall
CONDITION: some wear and dirt residue
PROVENANCE: inherited
$ 25-45*
