C.M. Vining Spanish American Sword

This sword belonged to my Great Grand-Father Charles M. Vining and has been passed down from generation to generation. The inscription on the sword reads, "Presented to Lieut. C.M. Vining by 3rd Reg Mo. by the Union Nations Bank of Kansas City at outbreak of Spanish American War, Apr 21 -1898" It was his ceremonial sword from when he served in the Spanish American Sword, he was a 1st Lieutenant. He also received a ceremonial gun, both were featured on Season 18 of the Antique Road Show in Tulsa. The sword listed here was appraised at $3,000 at that time.

It has been passed down in the family since 1898. It was awarded to my great-grandfather, Charles M Vining who served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army during the Spanish American War. He also was well-known in his community and was the Vice President of the Union Nations Bank of Kansas City, who presented him the sword. The ceremonial sword was featured on the 18th season of the Antique Road Show when they came to Tulsa. At that time it was appraised at $3,000.
