What does this mean?

Hi Melina,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Max Shaye's works sell for high sums at private gallerys and from art dealers but when sold at auction - the values Mearto uses in our appraisals - his paintings sell for very modest sums (only about 2 dozen of his works have sold at auction in the past 10 years, the highest price was about $450) but your painting has a few things going for it: size, bold use of color and it's signed/dated/titled.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

Maximilian Shaye (American, 1910 - 2004)
