My father used to own an antique shop in the french quarter in New Orleans and we lived 3 blocks from St. . Charles ave. I believe it came from England.

The rectangular top over a slant-lid opening to reveal a divided and pigeon-hole interior over a case fitted with two short drawers over three long drawers, all raised on bracket feet.
