What does this mean?

Dear Timo,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

The presented object appears to be an Indonesian Moko or Mokko drum from the island of Bali. It is hourglass-shaped was made out of chiseled bronze and has measurements of 70cm diameter and ca. 60 cm in height. Besides pigs, gongs and "mokkos" served as money while arrowheads fulfilled the function of small change. "Mokkos" was an important part of the bridal price as well. This piece was probably made in the second half of the 19th century.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 1.000 to 2.500 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
Georg
