Description from user:

Both cranes have a plant in their beaks. They are standing on bases embellished with a turtle and a crab. One of the crabs is slightly loose.

These belonged to my mother who collected antiques. I don't have any information on where she obtained them.

What does this mean?

Dear Sarah,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the appraisal.

The presented object appears to be a Japanese Meiji period bronze of a pair of cranes with t. The cranes are depicted with bound heads and a crab and a turtle on the terrain base. Such bronzes are typical of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Comparable objects were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and no severe damage is visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 600 to 1.200 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
George
