Hello Kim,

I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,

Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Turkish Anatolian Cicim Kilim from the West part of the country, possibly from Bergama. The piece is heavily devorated with traditional Anatolian Geometrical Motifs, mostly used on Cicim pieces. Although Cicim knotting is seen all along Anatolia, Western Anatolian pieces are usually of higher quality and aesthetics. This is a double chested Cicim, which means it has two chest motifs as central decoration. The borders were decorated with “Abundance” and “Ram Horns” motifs. The piece is knotted on a dark burgundy coloured base, which is a characteristic feature of the Western Anatolian weavings. The piece dates back to the period from 1950 to 1970. The piece is knotted wool on cotton. The piece is in good condition without any visible problems.

Entirely hand knotted.

Dimensions: 3 Feet 9 Inches by 6 Feet 3 Inches

Condition: The piece is in good condition without any visible problems

Provenance: Double Knot Gallery

Heavily decorated by traditional West Anatolian Cicim patterns.

800-1500$.
