What does this mean?

Hi Megan,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
I've quite a bit of experience with artifacts of this kind and it does not appear to be as old as 1100 CE; more likely carved in the early 20th Century when there was tremendous demand for artifacts after the Aztec sites were discovered around 1900
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

A Pre-Columbian Aztec style carved lava figure
probably carved in the early 20th Century
A seated figure wearing ceremonial headdress and tunic
6 inches long, 3 inches wide
CONDITION: pitting to rock; head is detached
PROVENANCE: inherited
