What does this mean?

This is a Japanese blue and white Arita ware umbrella stand. Arita refers to a region of Japan that housed the porcelain manufacturing and trading industry. Ceramics were produced here for export to the west. Umbrella stands like this one were made in the early decades of the 20th century.

The crack at the base lessens the value of the piece, unfortunately. It will help if this can be repaired so it is not very visible. Based on sales of similar items, this piece’s Fair Market Value is between $150 and $200.
