Acquired via a home estate purchase in the early 1960's. Reads: Made in China on the underside of the wooden base. The top is brass plated and removeable. Under the brass plate and inside the lamp (which appears to be porcelain) it also reads Made in China and there is a paper serial number glued which reads: A8GBK10. The lamp appears to be hand painted and depicts a mountain village. There are 2 dragons protruding from the upper portion of the lamp on either side just below the brass plate. Approximately 13" tall.
My parents obtained it along with other antique furniture when they purchased their first home in 1964. An elderly woman sold them the home and the other remaining furniture they acquired was from the 1940's.
Thank you for contacting Mearto. This a glazed green Chinese vase with dragon-shaped handles. The artist has depicted a shan shui (mountain water) scene, a traditional Chinese subject. We can infer that it was made in the late 19th or first half of the 20th century, as “made in China” written in English indicates it is a fairly recent export piece.
Based on auction sales of similar items, the Fair Market Value of this piece is between $75 and $125.
