What does this mean?

Dear Amna,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the appraisal.

The presented object appears to be an Arabian Saif sword probably made in the 19th century. Saifs are a curved one-blade type that is common on the Arabian peninsula and neighboring regions. Besides the shape of the blade, the crossguard is typical. The grip is made out of wood and has silver or white metal alloy fittings. There are no hallmarks or stamps on the blade visible. It has a metal scabbard that had a velvet cover.
Comparable objects were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in medium condition and no severe damage is visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 250 to 500 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
George
