Description from user:

A beautifully designed and decorative Chinese folding 'hunting' chair, in nice condition and fairly comfortable to sit on.. I'd guess that it's early 20thC and that the wood is Huanghuali

What does this mean?

This is a huanghuali wood folding horseshoe chair with metal accents. Huanghuali is a hardwood that is prized in Chinese furniture. There is carved detail work depicting a dragon and cloud patterns. The footrest features a metalwork inlay with a geometric design.

Chairs like these were made in China during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Originally they were produced for elite members of society. The concept of folding furniture was influenced by northern nomadic tribes in the Mongolian region.

This piece is in good condition. It is similar to chairs made during the 17th century. Based on sales of comparable items, the Fair Market Value is $900 to $1000.

I’ve included some links below to similar items sold at auction. These are for PAIRS, so they may be valued higher as a set compared with a single chair.
