What does this mean?

Hi Andrea,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

A vintage American Art Nouveau style metal, wood and slag glass floor lamp
Possibly by Handel, Meriden, Conn., first half 20th Century
Surmounted by a pink slag-glass domed sectioned shade with pierced brass (?) frame and brass finial, raised on a turned wooden pilaster with foliate turnings, on a circular footed base. Apparently unmarked
Two sections of solid wood are affixed to the solid carved pole. The bottom Round lamp base and very top that attaches the 2 light socket with pull chain. 59” of solid wood carved with tulip type carving in between. Some tulips (looks like 3) were reattached. Looks like walnut wood. bulb socket which is metal (looks like it was touched up with a gold paint). Finial is metal.
71 inches high overall, diameter of shade 16 inches, diameter of base 17 inches.
CONDITION: not examined in person but appears to be largely in original condition with wear and losses commensurate to age and use.
PROVENANCE: inherited
$400-600*
