Some kind of metal. Head only on wooden mounting. Head is approx 4 3/4 inches high
Relative was a friend of the Kaufmann family of Pittsburgh (Kaufmann Department Stores / Fallingwater). Over the years she acquired various gifts from the family. Not sure where the Asian artifacts came from other than she was told they were from a temple and brought home from abroad and given to her.
This is a bronze Buddha head, possibly from Thailand. It resembles others made in the 19th century, but I cannot be sure of the date. Below are links to similar pieces with their hammer prices. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
