What does this mean?

Thank you for contacting Mearto. This is a graduated amber necklace of large clear stones. Clarity is valuable in amber, and the larger size of the stones is important as well. The smell that you noticed is great because it's a sign that the beads are authentic.

Amber prices vary, based on cut, opacity, size, and inclusions. Usually, cut stones are more expensive, and size and clarity are great, as I mentioned above. Inclusions of organic material, like insects for example, are the most valuable. The inclusions I see in your necklace make the stones more interesting, but not necessarily more expensive. With amber, determining price is not always a straightforward calculation of weight, but it is a useful guide. Based on past auction sales of similar items as yours, the Fair Market Value of this piece is between $200 and $400.
