Hello Julianna,

I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,

Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian Seat Cushion Size Shahsavan Style Rug originated in Iran. The piece dates back to the period from 1970 to 1990. These were knotted to prevent the roughness of the raw wood material of sofas and chairs. The piece is decorated centrally with a floral central medallion surrounded by Boteh motifs. Boteh is a motif that looks like a hook and a waterdrop. It resembles wealth and good fortune. The piece was elegantly decorated and has collectible value. Knot density of the piece is average and the motifs were rendered clearly. The piece was knotted wool on cotton. The piece is in goos condition without significant problems.

Entirely hand knotted.

Dimensions: 45 Centimeters by 45 Centimeters

Condition: The piece is in goos condition without significant problems.

Provenance: A gift from a friend of the current owner.

Heavily decorated by traditional Shahsavan patterns.

50-100$.
