Hello Jonathan,

Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. The item presented appears to be four-panel Japanese style folding screen (byōbu; 屏風). Unfortunately, I am unable to confirm the medium of the object without more detailed images. However, these objects are typically gouache or ink paintings on fabric. Based on the edge image you provided, I can see the ground is primed canvas and the staples and inventory number indicate that the work is a "factory painting" produced for export. This is very common during the 20th century. The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of other comparable Japanese style byōbu screens, dating to the 20th century in a similar size. The estimate is contingent on a full condition report. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
