What does this mean?

Dear Jim,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the apprisal.

The presented object appears to be a French Model 1922 muzzleloading percussion cavalry pistol with unknown measurements. It has probably a 7.75 inches barrel, brass fittings, and regulation brass mounts, steel lock, ramrod and barrel, and the pistol grip with a lanyard ring. This gun was produced in St. Etienne which was one of the biggest firearm manufacturers in France. Such weapons are still often on the market because of their high production numbers.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 200 to 400 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
George
